The 7th July of A School Librarian

A'karikz Yannaing

Every year, You and I together remember Them on this 7th of July.
At S.H.S No-1, Bokalay High.

We annually held commemoration services of 7/7/62 Students' Movements
We sing along the forbidden national song
We talk about the government's crimes and the students' innocents
We read tribute poems by people of our town
We, the whole school together peacefully march to town hall centre
The students & the teachers together salute to those student-martyrs
I am the organizer from A to Z but always done by a hand of yours.

We've got 98.7 % credit passed, a new record in nationwide school history
Teachers and students are so excited for a fresh year to keep up the victory
In summer, we have a special parents & teachers meeting and extra funding
This year, I'll be busy to manage quarterly school-magazine and publishing
As usual, I definitely need your helps and work all out by our friendly team.

The extra funds will go to new PCs in school library,
Three new school-boats will be run for daily things
And an audio room for very first school orchestra team.

Where are you now? Where is your school now?
How is your education now? How is your graduation now?
I know that Cyclone's stronger than your physical power.
I also know nothing's stronger than your spiritual power.

At S.H.S No-1, Bokalay High(the remain),
This year, I'm, just alone, remembering You and Them on this 7th of July!!!

[To Those teachers, Those Students, And Those Schools From Those Towns
That Were Destroyed By Cyclone And The Rests That Aren't Ready To Reopen!]

We Sri Lankans, who have enjoyed the fruits of democracy for over half a century, have always respected the Burmese people’s struggle against the brutal military dictatorship. The proof of our support is shown the years long campaign we the have carried out thru various means including our website http://www.asiantribune.com to gain freedom for Aung San Suu Kyi.

We are currently disturbed to note that certain Burmese activists in Washington DC have joined with a group of Sri Lankan tamil extremists in a campaign to discredit Sri Lanka’s name.

In doing so, the Burmese activists are doing harm to our valuable relationship in the long term.

We are distressed to note that irrespective of our long standing support for your cause, some of your people would support those who seek to harm us.

At the same time, these Burmese activists, by joining with world renowned terrorists (Tamil Tigers) will bring harm and disrepute to your people’s cause as well.

We seek that you restrian your activists from causing harm to the relationship we have had with the Burmese people and your valinat struggle for a long time.

By misleading the inexperienced Burmese activists to participate in their activities, the Tamil Tiger supporters are seeking to gain from the purity of the Burmese struggle. In the process the Burmese can only lose credibility and be viewed with suspicion, once they are known to be linked to a shadowy group of terrorism supporters.

The Tamil Tigers are banned as a terror group in most nations and are monitored carefully by the FBI. By getting involved with such a group, your struggle stands to lose, and badly.

We trust your community will take serious note of this grave mistake about to happen that can harm both our communities.

Thank you
